It’s not your fault…

If you’re over 40, most of what you have been told about weight loss in wrong! It was well meaning, no doubt, but it’s still wrong. Depriving yourself and eating only “bunny” food will not only NOT make you thin, it will actually contribute to making you fatter.

Nature wants to protect you. For the last 100,000 years or more, that meant that when your caloric intake dropped, Nature took that to mean that you were in danger of starving. To protect you, your body started protecting you by, first, dropping you metabolic rate to conserve energy. Then, once you had more food available (that is, once you started eating more), your body started storing fat to protect you against another famine.

Nature doesn’t quicken your metabolism, ever, because that would not be in your best interest. At least, not historically.

But now we live in a time when we are OVERfed and UNDERnourished. That is contrary to everything Nature intended.

So start by understanding that extreme dieting will not work. It will not work because of the metabolic reaction, and because you will not be able to stick to an extreme diet for the rest of your life, unless you are seriously masochistic. The dictionary defines as masochist as: “a person who enjoys an activity that appears to be painful or tedious.”

So the first step in your weight loss journey is simply to forget everything you have learned about dieting, deprivation, and starvation.

Whether it was intentional on the part of the diet industry to keep you coming back for more, or just misinformation on the part of doctors and weight loss gurus, doesn’t really matter.

It’s not your fault. You were given the wrong information.
